When Pinkalicious is given a new pair of ice skates for a gift, she acts happy, but deep down is really disappointed. After all, new ice skates typically come in the color of white, not pink. So, Pinkalicious takes matters into her own hands, becoming quite creative to have the pink skates she's got her heart set on. However, despite having pink skates, Pinkalicious is discovering that ice skating isn't quite as easy as it looks - and her pink skates, don't stay pink for too long, allowing others to see her struggles on the ice skating rink. All's well that ends well, though, as Pinkalicious learns to have fun ice skating and enjoy her new skates at the same time!

After checking out a joke book from the school library and being accused of not having a funny bone of her own in her body, Pinkalicious takes matters into her own hands, accepting Tiffany's challenge of a laugh-off to see who is the funniest. She struggles through the night to come up with something, until finally settling upon her choice. Does she have a funny bone in her body? Can she be funnier than Tiffany? I'll leave you to be the judge of that!

I've always been a believer that the best way to encourage children's reading is to find out what they like - whether it be sports, animals or even jokes! This book allows children to see the joy that can be found within the pages of a book! Pinkalious is a character who appeals to so many young girls and the books offer a wide variety of topics... this is definitely a character you'll want to share with the little girls in your life!

Learning/Reading Activity:

• Host a laugh-off of your own. Take your child(ren) to the library and help him/her select a book of jokes. Then, encourage your child to read through and find the joke they think is the funniest. After dinner one night, share your jokes with each other and then take a vote to see who's was funniest!

Pinkalicious has headed back to school for a new year - she really likes her teacher, Mr. Pushkin and she has some friends in her class... but she downright misses Goldilicious (her unicorn, nicknamed Goldie). With Goldie, school could be pinktastic, so Pinkalicious decides to take Goldie along with her one day. The morning starts out a bit on the rough side, but Mr. Pushkin agrees that Goldie can stay, as long as Pinkalicious can teach her the school rules. Of course, that's just what Pinkalicious does and together, they have a very successful day at school!

The book is cute - Pinkalicious fans will be thrilled with this newest title. While I wouldn't exactly call it a back-to-school book, it definitely would classify if you used it in such a manner to promote the idea of going back to school and stress the importance of following school rules.

Learning/Reading Activity:

After reading, discuss the rules Pinkalicious and Goldilicious were expected to follow at school. Are they the same or different from what your child(ren) are expected to follow? The rules could include anything from the behavior you expect of your child at school, to rules regarding homework and bedtime routines that will help ensure a successful school year.
